In the past few decades, the use of cosmetic laser skin treatments has made blemishes not as permanent as they once were. Whether you want to minimize acne scarring or remove sunspots, it’s important to know which procedure is best for your specific skin problem.
Laser Skin Resurfacing
Laser skin resurfacing helps to make the skin appear smoother, younger, and more vibrant. A carbon dioxide or Erbium:YAG laser is used to strip away dead skin while stimulating the production of new, young skin. The laser also helps to strengthen the collagen of the skin. Laser skin resurfacing is great for managing sun spots, acne scars, pigmentation, and wrinkles of the skin.
IPL/BBL Photorejuvenation
A different form of laser treatment is known as IPL or BBL Photorejuvenation. These treatments are mainly used to improve fine wrinkles, remove age and sun spots, erase small facial veins or broken blood vessels, lighten areas of redness, and address several other skin blemishes such as acne or rosacea. The best part is the minimal recovery time—you can return to your daily activities almost uninterrupted.
Micro Laser Peel
While laser skin resurfacing and IPL/BBL Photorejuvenation are the two most popular forms of laser treatment, another procedures is also available. The Micro Laser Peel can be used in a similar way as the Photorejuvenation technique. This procedure works better for some patients, but it is more intense than the popular procedures above. Although the laser may be stronger, recovery time can be as short as three days.
